Meet Dr. Abbey Janssen

Victoria native Dr. Abbey Janssen always knew she wanted to work in healthcare, but it wasn’t until she was halfway through dental school that she discovered her love of orthodontics.

Dr. Janssen is the 2009 salutatorian graduate of St. Joseph High School. She received her Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics in 2013 from Texas A&M University in College Station, where she was recognized as the top graduating student from the College of Science. From there, she attended the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, earning her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree and graduating first in her class in 2019. She continued with a three-year residency at the Baylor Department of Orthodontics in Dallas, where she earned her Graduate Certificate in Orthodontics and Master’s Degree in Oral Biology in May 2022. She won the William R. Proffit Resident Scholar Award in 2022, and she won the 2023 Harry Sicher Award, the second highest national research award presented by the American Association of Orthodontics.

Dr. Janssen is a member of the American Board of Orthodontics, American Association of Orthodontics, Southwestern Society of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, and the Texas Dental Association. She is invited to teach annually at the Charles H. Tweed International Wire-Bending Foundation.

Dr. Janssen’s ultimate goal is for each of her patients to know how much she cares. She wants the best finish for each individual, producing a beautiful smile. During the treatment process, she enjoys getting to know each person and building connections with the remarkable people in this community.

Outside the office, Dr. Janssen enjoys playing golf, spending time with her five nephews and niece, and exploring the outdoors. She is pleased to practice in her hometown, which also includes her father, Dr. David Janssen, radiation oncology, and brother, Dr. Bryan Janssen, pathology. She is happy to live, work, and serve in the Victoria area, and looks forward to giving back to the community.
